12 months ago I had my first BMB and NGS test. Just now I've received the results from my 12 month follow up BMB and NGS.
No increase in blasts (still about 4%), no increase in MF (still stage 2), reduction in CALR (45.2% down to 40.3%) and reduction in TP53 (5% down to 3.8%). A new, apparently insignificant mutation was found (TET2 <3%).
According to my haemo this takes away any urgency for a SCT. I'm very happy about that.
Why is there an improvement in some numbers? Could it just be margin of error in the samples?
In the 12 months between tests I spent 6 months on HU then 6 months on ruxo (now 25mg twice a day). I've also adopted a more active and strenuous exercise regime and my diet has improved significantly including trying to eliminate added sugar (I still enjoy the occasional sweet treat), reduction of carbs, significant reduction in alcohol. Overall we eat a largely mediterranean diet with some elements added from anti-inflammatory cookbooks.
I'm meeting with Dr David Ross in May to get an update on the CALR antibody trial and the significance of these latest results upon my participation.
Best wishes for us all.
